The list has been curated by the editors of New York Spaces, led by Editorial Director Jason Kontos, and appears in this month’s issue of the magazine. In order to be considered in the year-long search for the Top 50, designers must be: an established business, based in the NY Metropolitan area, and either a renowned and long-respected organization or a new uncovered talent. The Top 50 Designers are honored by an exclusive invitation-only event at the renowned lifestyle furniture brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams’ NYC showroom (210 Lafayette St.). The popular party is one of the industry’s annual must-attend events, with this year’s attendance expected to top last year’s 800+. The evening is commemorated with a Journal & Directory, which recognizes the honorees, and features their favorite design resources and contact information. Copies will be distributed to all the event attendees at the Top 50 celebration, in all New York design building showrooms, and every New York Spaces event throughout 2016.
