-Winner to be Determined by Public Vote-
New York, NY (Nov. 2, 2021): To honor nannies for their hard work and dedication, Davler Media launched the first-ever Mommybites “Nanny of the Year” contest. Tassecia Simpson-Little of Yonkers, who works as a nanny in Rye Brook, NY, was determined the winner after the public voting period ended on October 30.
“I feel really honored,” says Tassecia, of receiving the distinction. “My friends and family members were so supportive.”
Tassecia’s nomination was submitted by her employer, Jillian Hochfelder. The nomination highlights Tassecia’s ability to step into the role of teacher when schools closed because of COVID.
“I had to continue physically going to work throughout COVID so Tassecia was at home with my three children teaching them, doing art projects, singing, helping them with Zoom, and everything in between,” Hochfelder wrote in her nomination. “Tassecia is a truly special human being and nanny. My family is the absolute luckiest to have Tassecia in our lives.”
The Mommybites “Nanny of the Year” contest raises awareness of the importance and value of a profession, which is often scrutinized and is reported to now be in shortage. Mommybites recognizes the hard work that nannies do, even during the most challenging times.
Expert nannies affiliated with the International Nanny Association (INA) helped determine Mommybites’ five finalists, who in addition to Tassecia included the following:
Jamie Hickmond from Jersey City, NJ
Margot Vallejo from New York, NY
Betty Franco from Wilton, CT
Elizabeth Campbell from Long Island, NY (worked in Sea Cliff, NY)
Testaments to the nannies’ dedication to their work from their loving families included:
- Showing up to work as scheduled while dealing with a home disaster caused by Hurricane Ida.
- Being the leader of the pack; the source of information for all nannies new to town.
- Caring for an entire family while a mother recovered from brain surgery.
- Helping a family stay connected during COVID/quarantine-caused separation.
From Oct. 15 through Oct. 30, people voted for their favorite finalist online. Tassecia Simpson-Little received the most votes to become the first Mommybites “Nanny of the Year.” Tassecia and the finalists will be featured in a special publication and receive memberships to the INA. As the winner, Tassecia will also receive $500.
