METROSOURCE & ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY TOAST HONOREES AT OPENING OF“RECLAIMING MY PRIDE” ART CONTEST EXHIBITION

Metrosource, the cross-platform media company behind the largest circulation LGBTQ magazine, online and social media destinations serving New York City and second largest nationally, and One World Observatory, at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, honored the 10 finalists and 9 honorable mention creators from Reclaiming My Pride.”  Launched in March, “Reclaiming My Pride” is a new national art contest designed to showcase the spirit of community, creativity, and charity in America’s LGBTQ+ populace which culminated during Pride Week in New York City.

More than 200 attendees turned out to get a preview of the 10 finalist pieces displayed throughout Aspire at One World Observatory,  the gorgeous private event space located at the apex of One World Trade Center, prior to the public exhibition, June 21 – 24.   Davler Media’s CEO David Miller joined One World Observatory’s Managing Director Keith Douglas and Metrosource’s Editor-in-Chief Paul Hagen and Director of Marketing Ryan Christopher to announce the Grand Prize winner, David Jester, a 57-year old painter from San Diego.  Jester received a round-trip for two to New York City for the opening and a $1,000 prize for his piece, “Home.”  Red Bull was a sponsor for the opening event.   Donations from the event and public exhibition will benefit The Ali Forney Center, an organization that protects LGBTQ youth from homelessness and empowers them with the tools to live independently.

Among the notable attendees were painter Scooter LaForge, and Laval Bryant of the Brooklyn Museum who served on a panel that judged the more than 100 entries, trans actress Shakina Nayfack, activist Fred Karger, along with many of the finalists and honorable mention artists. Alexander Roque, Director of Development, The Ali Forney Center also attended the festive event, which kept hopping by DJ Ezrahk.
