Founded in 2004 with the purchase of NYC’s leading tourism media company, Davler Media Group is a fully integrated media company with the mission of “helping consumers make the best decisions on how to spend their discretionary time and money.” Over the years, this has evolved to producing informational products that include expert insights, directories, maps, videos, discussion groups, and more.
Now, Davler Media publishes City Guide, the go-to magazine and website for tourists and locals in NYC, City Map, Everything to Do NYC, and ThoughtGallery.org, and hosts events for tourism industry professionals, and more.
City Guide, which was established in 1982, started as a brochure to help tourists in NYC find the best things to do and see during their time in the Big Apple. It has since grown into NYC’s only weekly visitor magazine, with a map, website, newsletters, and social media. Today, 60,000 copies are distributed each week in more than 300 locations across the city.
In 2013, we launched ThoughtGallery.org, a unique resource to help New Yorkers and tourists alike discover and schedule smart things to do in New York City. A site dedicated to addressing people’s intellectual curiosity, Thought Gallery caters to smart, affluent, and active New Yorkers by providing comprehensive coverage of the goings on in all five boroughs, from talks and panels to readings, tours, and screenings.
The Everything to Do NYC Facebook Group was launched in 2018 as a way for tourists to ask questions and share experiences of their time in NYC. It’s also an opportunity for locals and experienced tourists to share advice, ideas, and information with those who are actively planning trips to the city.
Then, in 2020, Davler Media printed the first City Map because printed maps are the No. 1 resource the hospitality community uses when helping visitors figure out how to spend their time in the city. It’s a large, easy-to-read map that includes subway lines and stations, parks, iconic city destinations, Broadway theaters, and attractions.
In addition to the print and digital resources for tourists and locals in New York City, Davler Media provides resources and hosts a variety of events for tourism industry professionals. We provide an array of events and services for individuals in the tourism industry, including Tourism Happenings, an informational newsletter, and opportunities to network. Davler Proudly produced along with 35 sponsors the first major industry post pandemic celebration, Tourism is Back. We also host events specifically for the concierge community, so they can experience attractions, theater, restaurants, and more to better recommend these activities and destinations to tourists. In 2023, the Tourism Marketing Seminar brought together NYC’s most senior industry leaders to discuss the current conditions and projections.
In 2007, Davler Media hosted the first annual Concierge Choice Awards, which allows the concierge community to recognize businesses in NYC that provide excellent experiences to tourists. Most recently, in 2022, we launched Women in Tourism, a platform for NYC companies and institutions to publicly honor accomplished women in the industry and help advance their careers.
